ECR 2010
Faster and Reliable Interventional Procedures
Prof. Solbiati presents the technical aspects and clinical applications of Fusion Imaging, which is based on a new platform capable of offering Virtual Navigation merging real-time ultrasound with pre-acquired multi-modality examinations (CT, MRI, PET).
VIRTUAL NAVIGATOR
Metastasis at segment VII
Small colonrectal metastatic lesion at segment VII close to a necrotic area from a previous RF thermoablation. The lesion is easily reached and treated with precision using a RF electrode relying on the Ultrasound/MRI Fusion System, since the lesion is not properly visible on the ultrasound scan.
VIRTUAL NAVIGATOR
Metastasis at segment VIII
35 mm liver metastatic lesion located in the cranial aspect of segment VIII only partially visible on ultrasound, because of air interpositioning in the lung. The mass is identified on CT scan, its volume defined and colored in red, including a yellow safety halo to minimize the risk of local regrowth.
VIRTUAL NAVIGATOR
HCC at segment VIII after previous TACE
6 mm Hepatocarcinoma (HCC) at segment VIII previously treated with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). The lipidial distribution is scattered, enlarged portions of tumor are still vital, showing a clear contrast enhancement on CT. The mass is poorly seen on ultrasound due to an unfavourable anatomical location.
