Esaote developed innovative technologies, which resulted in numerous patents and technological achievements as cardiovascular ultrasound systems for scientific space research, one of the first dedicated ultrasound systems for contrast enhanced studies and one of the first open dedicated MRI systems capable of imaging knees, shoulder and extremities.
At the end of the 80's, Esaote was the first company in the world to realize the market potentialities of limbs screen: the RM would have become "gold standard" for the muscle-skeletal area.
The Commitment in R&D
In the R&D field, which implies different skills and frequent references to basic research, cooperation is always at top level. In addition to its four R&D centres, Esaote is also present in numerous research activities linked to important universities, not only in its Italian context but also - and especially - in foreign universities (i.e. in the U.S.A.).
In the biomedical sector technological know-how is a key factor for success. Therefore research and development activities are extremely important and need strong and continuous investments. Moreover the high innovation rate, the short products life and market globalisation mean that investments in R&D are further increased.
During the financial year 2011, the Esaote Group bore costs for research and development for a total of 25,8 million Euro with an incidence of 9% on the turnover.
