The Esaote's advanced hardware and software Time/Intensity Analysis is able to automatically process the differences between healthy and pathologic tissues, performing functional studies and appropriate quantitative analyses after Contrast Media intravenous injections.
Differential diagnosis of different pathologies is now easily achievable by analyzing the different curve shapes processed by the system, to examine, for instance, liver and breast diseases or those associated with renal stenosis.
Time/Intensity Analysis
By analyzing the intensity of the signal coming from the CFM and Power Doppler in the area of interest after the Contrast Agent I.V. injection, the Time/Intensity Analysis gives the possibility to store the extrapolated data in raw format and plot them on a graph, where the abscissa shows the time value in seconds and the ordinate shows the intensity value.
Different options are available to optimize the scanning, according to the patient under examination, the pathology, the depth of the lesion of interest and/or the behavior of the Contrast Agent being used. A special stopwatch, different acquisition periods, frame and sequence custom positioning/choice are only a few of the available tools that allow to enhance the contrast medium duration, performance and organ-specificity. Several different areas of interest with different region shapes can be selected in any area of the ultrasound image at the same time.
The Time/Intensity curves can be exported in PC-compatible format and stored: the original values can be compared and studied in detail, and the resultant curves can be re-processed at any time using archived raw data.
Velocities, measure comparisons, accelerations, times, areas, deviations, etc. are immediately and easily performed and evaluated.
The use of contrast agents in the USA is limited by FDA to left ventricle opacification and visualization of the left ventricular endocardial border.
