    Interventional Ultrasound Application for Surgery

Intraoperative ultrasound is essential for planning the type of resection and for guiding surgeon’s hands in real time during liver parenchyma dissection. This is relevant for the effectiveness and safety of surgical treatments.

Interventional Ultrasound Application for Surgery

Esaote offers a complete range of ultrasound systems and innovative iQ Probes as the T-shape intra-operative probes to maximize the performance of surgical procedures. MyLab ultrasound platforms comply with important clinical needs in order to simplify the workflow and optimize the space in sterile conditions, with the additional possibility to customize the ultrasound keyboard and system usage.

Ergonomics at its best

A wide range of accessories makes MyLab an efficient “ready-to-go” solution when mobility and time are crucial:

  • Touchscreen interface with eTouch allows you to speed up your workflow.
  • High-resolution monitor can be rotated 90° to ensure greater comfort and allow the examination to be shared with the patient or a colleague.
  • Appleprobe transducers ensure a natural alignment between the hand and wrist, making daily scanning more comfortable.
  • Unique control buttons integrated into lightweight Appleprobe transducers allow remote control of the scanner with quick actions in sterile conditions.
  • Battery Operated and lightweight portable solutions.

Intraoperative Dedicated Probe

Esaote offers a complete range of ultrasound systems and innovative T-shape intra-operative probes to maximize the performance of surgical procedures.

Esaote designed a new generation of ultrasound probes, the iQprobes, developed with new materials and methods to get the maximum spatial resolution and highest image depth. The new iQprobes’s performance combined with the new appleprobe design concept, allow physicians to carry out extremely comfortable and ergonomic examinations. This technology and design concept has led Esaote to develop IOT342, a new intra-operative T probe featuring a Tp-View enlarged field of view, wider frequency range, compact profile and ergonomic grip, fit to perform compression maneuver. A probe conceived for surgeons.

“Intraoperative ultrasound is essential for planning the type of resection and for guiding surgeon’s hands in real time during liver parenchyma dissection. This is relevant for the effectiveness and safety of surgical treatments.”
Guido Torzilli, MD, PhD, FACS, Ultrasound-Guided Liver Surgery, an Atlas, 2014

Top performance in Surgical Liver Ultrasound

IOT342 is a new wide multi-band frequency probe that allows to explore every section of the liver, both superficial and deeper ones, while using advanced applications like CnTI (Esaote’s Contrast Tuning Imaging) and ElaXto (Esaote’s Elastosonography). IOT342 has an enhanced scanning plan compared to contact surface and is more stable than convex probes. Its size and ergonomic design are suitable to perform compression maneuvers, offer different handing methods and allow to reach very narrow spaces.

The innovative T-shape intra-operative probe IOT342 offers:

  • High quality B-Mode imaging
  • High sensitivity Color Doppler and XFlow
  • ElaXto to evaluate tissue elasticity
  • CnTI to perform contrast enhanced exams

“Tailor-Made” Keyboard with Remote Control of your MyLab

Room overcrowding is a formidable challenge in surgery and when performing interventional procedures. Staff and surgeons need to be able to move freely, while keeping full control of the systems, focusing on the procedure and improving patient care. Nowadays ultrasound has to comply with important clinical needs in order to simplify the workflow and optimize the space in sterile conditions, with the additional possibility to customize the ultrasound keyboard according to your workflow and application field. A remote control of the unit combined with a “tailor-made” keyboard would simplify the daily clinical practice.

MyLab Remote is the revolutionary Esaote APP which transforms your iPad and iPhone into a wireless remote controller to control your MyLab Ultrasound system in real-time.

MyLabRemote enables real-time management of your high end MyLab Ultrasound system for basic (Imaging and Doppler modalities) and advanced features (Elastosonography, CEUS, Fusion Imaging).

This innovative app allows you to properly operate the US system in real-time through a User Interface customization, according to the required application:

  • General Purpose exams in every day’s clinical practice
  • Operating theatre and surgical department (including neurosurgery)
  • Cath lab (with remote monitor for the echo image and operator far from the ultrasound system)
  • Phlebology (lower limbs)
  • Urology (transrectal)
  • Gynecology (endo)

Wide spacing between the virtual controls on MyLabRemote User Interface means that the controller is easy to use.

MyLabRemote is your reliable tool for real-time remote management of basic and advanced functions on your MyLab system and in any environment where there is the need for complete system sterility.

Special Biopsy Probe

In order to perform precise and accurate procedures, technologies play an important role. MyLab systems together with SI2C41 iQprobe dedicated for Biopsy and Percutaneous Intervention, creates the highest possible level of Ergonomics and Image and Doppler quality possible today, for confident and comfortable diagnosis and intervention. SI2C41 iQprobe is lightweight and with appleprobe ergonomics in order to reduce at the minimum any physical stress also for long interventional sessions with different comfortable grips.

Intraoperative Hockey-Stick Probe

Esaote IOE 323 Intra-operative linear array Transducer is suitable for intraoperative and surgery procedures thanks to:

  • Doppler and CEUS capabilities
  • Very small footprint and very lightweight
  • Wide frequency range with good penetration
  • Dedicated ablation kits and plastic handlers suitable for surgery and interventional procedures

CnTI (Contrast Tuned Imaging) is Esaote’s advanced technology for Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) Imaging. Based on low mechanical index and real-time scanning, CnTI is an ideal way to use second generation contrast media. CnTI Data can be fused with MRI, CT, PET, 3D Ultrasound and/or 3D CEUS volumes. Real-time B-Mode scanning fusion with CnTI Volume enables constant CEUS anatomical references during interventional procedures.

Surgery Findings with BodyMap

Precisely locating the position of lesions or other anatomical landmarks on real-time ultrasound, while taking advantage of 2D second modality, is possible only with Esaote Bodymap.

BodyMap technology enables the visualization of the probe as a green circle) on a second modality image such mammography, RX, SPECT-CT, MRI Slice and more.

The probe position is linked in real time with live clips, which can be recorded through the BodyCamera. In this way is possible precisely locate where the surgeons will have to perform the procedure.

Tumor Resection and Patient follow-up

Esaote’s Virtual Navigator enables real time fusion with multiple second modality imaging, bringing to the fore Ultrasound’s real-time capabilities , such as Doppler, CEUS and Elastography.

Virtual Navigator increases diagnostic confidence in order to:

  • Visualize lesions detected in CT/MRI/PET which are not readily visible with ultrasound
  • Plan the best approach in difficult-to-scan patients
  • Guide the operator to the region of interest – quickly and easily

Virtual Navigator aims to support interventional procedures, including tumor marking with Automatic Registration. This will support users with applications - especially for percutaneous procedures, as well as injections, drainage, ablations, conventional surgery and more. It provides:

  • Semi-automatic delineation of the lesion margins
  • Computed calculation of lesion volume
  • Definition of expected tumor resection (necrotic ellipse)
  • Surgery devices tracking capabilities
  • Visual comparison PRE and POST surgery
  • Real-Time Guidance during the procedures

Virtual Navigator uses all the advantages of different imaging modalities to provide a real-time, low-cost, radiation-free solution for guiding diagnoses. It is ideal for use in everyday clinical practice, interventional procedures and surgery.
