ECIO 2026, the European Conference on Interventional Oncology, will take place in Basel, Switzerland, from April 26 to 30, 2026, serving as a key international meeting dedicated to minimally invasive cancer care. Over the past decades, interventional oncology has become firmly established as the fourth pillar of oncology, alongside surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, and ECIO represents a central platform for multidisciplinary exchange in this rapidly evolving field.

Organised by CIRSE, ECIO has brought together the interventional oncology community since 2008, fostering collaboration among specialists involved in cancer care. A distinctive feature of the conference is its strong emphasis on multidisciplinary team (MDT) cooperation, encouraging dialogue and shared decision-making among interventional radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, and other clinical specialists.

The scientific programme of ECIO 2026 offers a comprehensive overview of current and emerging topics in interventional oncology, including advances in hepatocellular carcinoma treatment, immuno-oncology, and lung interventions. Multidisciplinary tumour board sessions, clinical focus sessions, and video-based learning formats provide practical insights into evidence-based approaches, procedural techniques, and real-world clinical challenges.

Hands-on training opportunities and dedicated educational courses further support skill development across different levels of expertise. Through a variety of session formats ECIO 2026 is designed to deliver an engaging and practice-oriented learning experience.
